One of Lynx Security's main attributes is flexibility and adaptability in both what we do and where we do it. We do not limit our activities to specific geographical regions, but rather assess each potential opportunity on our capability to provide an excellent service.
At present, about 80 percent of our contracts are within the M25 with most of our contracts in Central London. We also have large security teams at contract sites along the M4 corridor in Bristol, Swindon, Reading and Bracknell.
Recruitment:
Our recruitment team is headed up by one of the most experienced personnel managers in the profession. All candidates undergo stringent vetting procedures in line with the requirements of BS 7858:2006 as well as a Lynx aptitude test prior to being offered employment. Recruitment is normally carried out on an assignment by assignment basis to ensure that the skill sets of new recruits match the particular requirements of our customers.
Training & Development:
Lynx meet the training requirements of the Security Industry Authority (The SIA) with in house courses for both Part 1 (Basic Security Awareness) and Part 2 (Communications and Conflict Management), which have to be passed satisfactorily before new recruits are allowed into an operating environment with customers. Our Training Manager, Bob Crowhurst is qualified by Skills for Security to provide the SIA training and by NEBOSH to deliver Health & Safety training.
The company has its own in-house training school and holds regular training seminars for all staff levels. Training records are kept for all personnel and are regularly reviewed.
Turnover of staff and retention figures:
Lynx are a family owned security provider and the working environment is friendly and supportive. This has significant benefits when it comes to staff retention and enables us to put time and resource into the welfare and development of our employees. On top of this we have a clearly defined retention strategy and all leavers are asked to attend an exit interview to ascertain if there were any failings (perceived or real) that we may have made as their employer.
Staff turnover statistics for the past five years illustrate that we have extraordinarily high staff retention for the manned security sector.
Lynx Operate to our own ISO 9001 accredited Quality System incorporating BS7499:2002 for Guarding, BS7984:2001 for Keyholding and BS7858:2006 for Vetting. This defines our processes, procedures and key documents.
A system of Internal Auditing has been established to ensure that the Standard and Recommendations are being met, that our operational procedures are constantly updated and that the quality of our service is improved wherever and whenever possible. Internal audits take place twice per annum.
Our Quality System is inspected annually by the National Security Inspectorate, widely recognised as the premier approvals body in our industry. Lynx Security holds the NSI's Guarding Gold level of approval, only awarded to companies who meet our industry's highest standards by achieving business excellence through ISO 9001:2000 quality compliance.
Lynx were one of the first 58 Companies accredited as SIA approved contractors on 20th March 2006. This demonstrates our commitment to quality and the ability of our standard operating procedures to conform with the highest industry standards.
Lynx is an accredited SAFEContractor under the National Britannia scheme and also a member of The Security Watchdog. This organisation undertakes external audits including penetration testing on behalf of clients.
Lynx Security pays for the licence fees for all of its employees, including associated training costs and certification charges.

We believe that this process will result in a better future for customers, contractors and the over 400,000 people who work in the UK security industry.
At each stage of the Security Industry Authority's implementation of licensing, we have complied with every requirement. This will continue until the 20th March 2006 deadline for licensing and beyond.
