Lynx has recently been appointed as the security partner for More London.

This bustling world famous location is adjacent to Tower Bridge and opposite the Tower of London. It boasts the headquarters of some of the world's largest professional firms, and mixes the business needs with those of the local community and visitors to create a welcoming open and diverse space in the centre of London.

Each day over 20,000 people pass through More London. The management team with Lynx officers are focussed on making this as pleasant an experience as possible.

The implementation phase involved the TUPE Transfer of 48 staff and was completed in five weeks, with all staff having individual consultations, and being issued with full new sets of uniform. We also used the implementation time to appoint and train a team of eight "Bench" relief officers. This team receive the same training as the regular officers and are employed to fill any gaps which occur, due to holidays, sickness or training. They also attend each shift as supernumerary staff.

Within a few weeks of starting, Lynx hosted a "Site Clinic" for the whole team where we discussed any issues or concerns they had, as well as our vision for the service we would deliver at More London. This was a very successful communication exercise, which was well received by the security team, who also had several good ideas as to how the service could be further improved.

The responsiveness of the team was soon tested by the Tooley Street flood of May 2009. Lynx not only responded to the incident effectively, but rapidly mobilised extra staff to help manage security whilst recovery was underway. On the day of the flood an extra ten team members were needed with less than eight hours notice.

The responsibilities of the team extend to managing the 24 hour control centre, helping to report and rectify any faults recorded on the "More For Me" helpdesk, patrolling to ensure the safety and welfare of everyone working at and visiting More London, helping to manage deliveries to the occupiers, controlling parking and access, and ensuring close liaison with the public services. Lynx also provide security and Loading Bay services for occupiers in the "multi-let" Buildings, along with the security service for the exciting and popular free programme of events held in The Scoop At More London. These include the "Fringe festival" and Music, Theatre, and Film nights.

More London includes an interesting and varied range of security responsibilities which are both challenging and rewarding for the security team, and our team embrace the More London values of teamwork, taking responsibility and excellence of service delivery in this landmark London location.
